Visit Our Office

Our Canmore office sits at the gateway to the Canadian Rockies, just minutes from several trailheads. Stop by to discuss trip options, review gear, or simply talk about wilderness travel over coffee.

Parking available on Wilderness Trail and adjacent streets. The office is wheelchair accessible via the main entrance.

Directions

From downtown Canmore, head west on Main Street for approximately 2 kilometers. Turn right onto Wilderness Trail. Our office is located in a brown timber building on the left side, marked with our distinctive star logo.

From Calgary, take Trans-Canada Highway 1 west for about 100 kilometers. Take Exit 91 toward Canmore. Follow signs to downtown, then proceed to Wilderness Trail as described above. Total drive time approximately 90 minutes.

To help us provide the most useful response, consider including:

  • Your preferred travel dates or season
  • Number of people in your group

Booking Process

After initial contact, we'll discuss your goals and recommend suitable trips. Once you've selected an expedition, we provide detailed pre-trip information including gear lists, fitness preparation, and logistics.

A deposit secures your reservation, with the balance due 45 days before departure. We accept bank transfers and major credit cards.

About Stellar Niche

We've spent fifteen years refining how wilderness expeditions should work. Our approach prioritizes small groups, expert guidance, and routes that venture beyond crowded tourist destinations.

Every member of our team brings extensive backcountry experience and genuine passion for sharing Canada's natural wonders. We're not just running tours; we're facilitating meaningful connections with landscapes that deserve respect and attention.

Based in Canmore, we're surrounded by the very environments we guide trips through. This proximity keeps us connected to seasonal changes, trail conditions, and the subtle shifts that determine when each landscape offers its best.

Whether you're planning your first wilderness experience or your fiftieth, we're here to ensure it's worthwhile.

Common Questions

Popular dates, particularly July and August weekends, often book 4-6 months in advance. Shoulder season trips (May, June, September, October) typically have better availability. If your schedule is flexible, we can usually accommodate you within a few months.

Yes. Private trips allow complete customization of routes, pace, and focus areas. Pricing depends on group size, duration, and destination. Minimum group size of four participants applies for most private expeditions. Contact us to discuss your specific interests.

Cancellations more than 60 days before departure receive full refunds. Between 30-60 days, we refund 50% of the total cost. Within 30 days of departure, no refunds are available, though you may transfer your spot to another person or reschedule to a different date subject to availability.

Some expeditions work well for families with teenagers who have appropriate fitness levels. Children under 14 generally find our regular trips too demanding. We occasionally offer family-specific trips with modified routes and pacing. Contact us to discuss options based on your children's ages and abilities.

Our office is fully wheelchair accessible. However, the nature of backcountry wilderness travel presents inherent physical challenges that limit accessibility for some mobility considerations. We're happy to discuss your specific situation to determine whether particular trips might work or if we can suggest alternatives.

While not mandatory, we strongly recommend comprehensive travel insurance covering trip cancellation, medical emergencies, and evacuation. Wilderness environments can require helicopter evacuation in serious emergencies, which travel insurance typically covers. We can suggest reputable providers upon request.
